Holistic Treatment for Sports Injury Instead of Surgery

Getting a sports injury is never a fun experience. Many times, doctors and surgeons will tell you that surgery is required. This may certainly be true for some serious sports injuries like breaks and even some fractures, but not all injuries require a full-blown surgery. Sometimes, surgery can complicate your injury, and it may even cause you more pain and discomfort in the end. You should be sure to listen to the advice of your doctors and surgeons, but if you are able, consider some holistic remedies as alternatives to getting surgery.

What Constitutes a Sports Injury?

A sports injury is one or multiple injuries that occurred while engaging in physical activity. Sometimes, the injuries are acute. This means that a single, unfortunate occurrence passed at which time a break, fracture or other injury happened. An example of an acute sports injury is a slipped disc after colliding with a teammate during a soccer game or a broken arm from falling on the basketball court.

However, there are also use injuries. These injuries occur from physical activities and sports, but they are a result of overuse or misuse of a particular part of the body. An example of this type of sports injury would be tennis elbow from playing tennis or a strained back from swimming. Both of these types of injuries are equally troublesome and uncomfortable, but again, they need not always be treated with surgery. Holistic remedies can go a long way.

Alternative Holistic Treatment Remedies for Sports Injuries

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care offers many holistic benefits to sports injury recovery. Using different chiropractic techniques and spinal manipulation, we can treat the underlying cause of the injury as well as the painful symptoms.

Applied Kinesiology

Applied kinesiology works to treat the muscles and identify the causes of muscle weakness. This non-invasive technique uses muscle strength testing to expose imbalances and dysfunctions within the muscles, joints, or organs. This then helps the chiropractor best address the problem.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression works to lengthen the spine by decreasing tension or decompression on the vertebrae. This treatment is especially helpful for back and neck pain or bulging discs.

Holistic Chiropractic Treatments for Neck Pain

Millions of people visit chiropractors every single year, and a large percentage of these patients do so in order to relieve neck pain and back pain. These types of pain can be the result of a wide variety of medical issues and will usually harm the quality of one’s life. Anyone that is experiencing neck pain or has a loved one that is struggling with discomfort should understand some of the most common causes of these medical issues and how a holistic chiropractic approach may be the best option for treatment.

Causes of Neck Pain

There are a quite a few reasons that a person may begin to develop pain around their neck, head, and shoulders. This problem is not only common, but it can also make common daily practices such as exercising, work, school, or even standing for long periods excruciating. Some issues that often cause neck pain include degenerative disorders, bone abnormalities, trauma to the neck, bad posture, tumors, and muscle strain. Serious issues such as tumors and degenerative diseases will always need traditional medical care, but those with a misaligned spine, strained muscles, and general inflammation may respond well to holistic treatment options such as chiropractic care.

Understanding Chiropractic Care

The primary objective of our chiropractor is to ensure that your spine and the rest of your musculoskeletal system are aligned and as healthy as possible. We can do this with a variety of techniques and tools that are designed to help manipulate the spine and provide relief.

For some conditions, this can be done in addition to or as an alternative to traditional treatments. Other medical professionals will often suggest medication that only addresses the side effects of neck pain or a surgery that may require months of rehabilitation. Our techniques can be useful in treating both acute back pain that that lasts for less than six weeks and chronic back pain that lasts for months or even years.

Cervical Pain Care

Neck pain is also referred to as cervical pain because the neck is technically called the cervical spine. This area of the body is especially susceptible to injuries mostly because of the biomechanics of the human body. Everything from the way we sit and how we eat to old age and general wear and tear will affect neck pain.

It is important to remember that no patient should ever leave a neck or head injury up to chance as untreated damage can cause further problems. Our chiropractor may suggest treatments and services such as neck adjustments, instrument assisted manipulation, and flexion distraction that will realign the spine and allow the body to heal naturally.

If you would like to avoid invasive surgeries or chemical painkillers that will put your organs under a tremendous amount of strain, then chiropractic care may be right for you. Our holistic services are designed to help your body naturally rebalance and heal itself after making the proper adjustments to your neck, shoulders, and back. Contact Nault Chiropractic today to schedule your consultation and let Dr. Stephen Nault help you feel your best.

Chiropractic Care for Sinus Headaches

There are many people who experience a buildup of pressure in their sinus cavity. This pressure can quickly become painful. It can cause pressure in a person’s head resulting in them experiencing a sinus headache. This pressure or pain will be felt in their eyes or forehead. This pressure buildup happens because the sinuses in a person’s body are not able to drain properly. This can be the result of problems in the neck region caused by a misaligned vertebrae creating nerve pressure.

At Nault Chiropractic in Worcester, Dr. Stephen J. Nault can help patients with persistent headaches by offering treatment to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Contact Nault Chiropractic today to schedule your appointment.

Chiropractic Care

This care is designed to restore and maintain a body’s functions. The goal is to heal the root cause of the problem and not just the symptoms. Patients are often adjusted, so the nerve supply to their sinuses are activated. This will be done as their diet; fiber and water intake are improved. A chiropractor will know when there are problems with a body taking in nutrients and ridding itself of waste; a break down in their system may have occurred. A person’s sinuses are at the end point of a person’s system. That is usually the area where problems are often experienced.

Chiropractic Treatment

When a person is experiencing a sinus headache, a chiropractor will look for any underlying nerve interference in their spine. Close attention will be paid to the upper neck. Treatment may consist of light tapping on a person’s cranials. Reflexology may be done on their fingertips. This will activate sinus drainage. After this is done, patients may be encouraged to go outside and walk around on a cold day. This is a good way to get a person’s nose running. It will also prevent a person’s sinuses from being stagnated.

Proper Spinal Alignment

The goal of chiropractic treatment is to decrease the nerve pressure. This is done by restoring proper alignment of the spine in the neck. A number of specific adjustments to a person’s misaligned or subluxated vertebrae may be performed. Once the pressure is taken away from a person’s nerve, it will start to heal. The sinuses will then begin to drain properly. The chiropractic care done to a person’s neck will decrease the tension in their soft palate. Swelling will decrease around the opening of the sinuses. This can happen when alignment of the neck is restored. This can help prevent future problems with sinus pressure. Individuals can be healed in a safe way without drugs and their harmful side effects.

Preventative Sinus Headache Care

To eliminate future sinus headaches chiropractors may provide instruction on self-stretching of the sinuses. This could involve carefully pulling cheek bones in different positions. Nutritional counseling will be offered as it has been proven to help. Training in nasal saline rinsing may be offered. Using moist heat towels and steam may also be recommended for any future sinusitis problems.

The Benefits of Holistic Chiropractic Care

Contrary to popular belief, modern medicine doesn’t hold the answer to every problem. Very few drugs and even fewer types of surgery can effectively treat many of the conditions that people encounter related to their spine, their posture, or their nervous system.

Nault Chiropractic in Worcester offers holistic treatments to help you feel your best without taking medication. Contact Nault Chiropractic today to see how we can help you feel better naturally.

Holistic chiropractic care represents one of the best alternatives for people facing chronic pain, musculoskeletal problems, or nervous system-related issues. The effectiveness of holistic chiropractic care has been proven in the inspiring results that have been achieved.

For example, sufferers of chronic back pain have been free of pain after working with their chiropractor. Treating a patient’s posture, and correcting misaligned bones has allowed the patient’s body to naturally heal without the need for medicine or surgery.

To better understand how holistic chiropractors can benefit you, let’s examine what makes holistic chiropractors different from the other types of medicine you may already be familiar with.

Why Can Chiropractors Produce Better Results?

While there are many things that set chiropractors apart from other practitioners of modern medicine, the major differences can be condensed to just three things:

  1. Unlike most types of modern medicine, the body as a whole is treated instead of the part that is problematic.
  2. Treatment from a chiropractor can be used with traditional therapies to produce an effect that neither could by themselves.
  3. Continued chiropractic care can reduce the incidence of future problems as a result of a healthier body.

The reason these differences matter is because they’re what make chiropractors unique. It enables them to produce results that traditional therapies would fall short of producing.

How Does a Holistic Chiropractor Benefit You?

The benefits from a holistic chiropractor reside in what a chiropractor does differently from other doctors. They try to view your body as a whole with your symptoms as a side effect of some misalignment with your skeletal structure.

For example, consider a patient with chronic back pain. Their chiropractor may determine that their pain is a symptom of several misaligned joints. They may adjust the back as part of the patient’s treatment plan like you would expect, but what you may not expect is that they may make adjustments to the elbow, hand or knee joints.

This happens because chiropractors work to fix the overall alignment of the skeleton rather than just trying to fix one or two troubled spots. This results in a greater degree of freedom for the patient, and the patient may end up feeling significantly better as a whole.

Your chiropractor can benefit you in many other ways that are unique from the results traditional medicine can provide. You may lose weight as a result of your treatment plan, feel more limber and balanced, or you may simply be free of the aches and pains that have plagued you for as far back as you can remember.

In the case of nervous system afflictions, your chiropractor’s realignment techniques may make it possible to relieve pressure from certain nerves. This can restore function and feeling to parts of your body, which allows your body to feel more like it did before damage occurred.

If you’re ready to try an alternative that treats more than just one or two symptoms, then make an appointment to see Dr. Nault today. Your body will thank you for it.

Treating Whiplash with Chiropractic Care

At Nault Chiropractic in Worcester, we treat plenty of patients who have suffered whiplash following auto accidents.

So if you are suffering from whiplash, contact Nault Chiropractic today to learn about the various treatments we offer, or to schedule an appointment.

While we are ready to treat you if you have been in an accident, we would be much happier if you stay healthy and avoid car accidents that can cause whiplash and other injuries.

Here are some common sense tips to prevent auto accidents and keep you and your passengers safe:

Avoid Distractions While Driving: Don’t snack, play with the radio, talk on the phone or text while you are driving. All these actions can make you take your eyes off the road – and that is a major cause of accidents.

These are accidents that can be avoided.

According to The National Safety Council, more than 1.5 million car crashes can be blamed on driver cell phone use. Officials said you are four times more likely to be involved in a crash if you use your cell phone when driving.

In 2011, cell phone use was a factor in 23 percent of automobile collisions. Of those, 21 percent involving people age 16 and 19 were fatal accidents.

Texting while you drive can lead to five seconds of drivers taking their eyes off the road. That time equals traveling 100 yards if you’re driving at 55 mph. While talking on the phone hikes your risk of crashing by 30 percent, texting elevates that risk by an eye-popping 2,300 percent!

About one in seven drivers ages 16 to 20 who are in car crashes admitted that they were texting or talking on their phones when, or just before, the crash occurred.

More than 80 percent of Americans ages 16 and 17 have cell phones. About a third admit to texting while driving. More than half say they talk on cell phones while driving.

Alarmingly, nearly 80 percent of young adults said they are very or somewhat confident that they can text while driving and remain safe. About half of younger drivers report they have seen their parents talk on cell phones while driving. And about 15 percent said they have seen their parents text while they drive.

About 25 percent of adults admit they have received or sent text messages while behind the wheel. Half of children between the ages of 12 and 17 have been passengers in cars where the driver is texting.

About 20 percent of all drivers admit to checking out the Web, or texting while driving. These behaviors have led elected officials to act.

Ten states prohibit drivers from using handheld cell phones while behind the wheel. And 32 states ban new drivers from cell phone use. In all, 39 states ban drivers from texting.

We hope these troubling statistics encourage parents and young people to learn more about the potentially fatal consequences of texting or talking on the phone while driving.

Distracted driving leads to crashes, and crashes lead to whiplash. At Nault Chiropractic, we’ll treat your injuries and help you heal. But we want you to drive safely and avoid whiplash altogether.

Five Reasons You Need to See a Chiropractor after Your Car Accident

No matter how minor the car accident seems, it still causes undue stress on your body and bones. Visiting a chiropractor following a car accident is an effective way to evaluate your overall health and treat any underlying damage, preventing permanent health issues.

At Nault Chiropractic in Worcester, MA, Dr. Steven Nault is here to help you overcome your pain. We take a holistic approach to chiropractic care, so you can feel your best without taking medication. To schedule your appointment, contact Nault Chiropractic today.

If you’ve been in a car accident, you need to visit a chiropractor for five important reasons.

Complete Evaluation of Muscle and Bone Health

The jolting effects of a car accident can cause a number of repercussions on your health, including bone and muscle damage. Seeking chiropractic care following your accident is an important step to take, as an effective chiropractor will complete a full examination to determine if you have any underlying muscular or skeletal injuries. Don’t avoid going simply because you’re not experiencing any pain. Many individuals don’t recognize the effects of a car accident until days or even months later.

Establish Realignment throughout Your Body

Again, the jarring motion of a car accident can easily misalign your body. From your head and neck to your back, knees, and ankles, any misalignment in your body leads to additional health concerns down the road. Visiting the chiropractor following your accident will allow your doctor to establish realignment in your body so that you don’t experience any further damage.

Treat Whiplash

Whiplash is one of the most common injuries caused by a car accident. This issue not only functions to cause pain and stiffness, but it also leads to the actual destabilization of the spine. Common signs of whiplash include head or neck pain, blurred vision, dizziness, shoulder pain, low back pain, and limited range of motion in the neck. Chiropractic care following an accident can alleviate these issues and prevent any long-term damage. Like with other accident-related issues, the major side effects of whiplash often don’t manifest until weeks or months after the accident, so it is important to seek care even if you aren’t currently experiencing any pain.

Maintain Ongoing Care

Particularly if you are an individual who experiences frequent musculo-skeletal issues, it is absolutely vital to schedule a chiropractic appointment following your accident. Adding an additional appointment to your typical regimen helps treat any newly established conditions and is a step to better maintain your ongoing care. Treating issues as they arise is one of the best ways to prevent permanent damage.

Obtain Necessary Documentation

If you do report an injury and file a claim in regards to that injury, you must have the appropriate documentation for the claim. A qualified chiropractor is able to complete an evaluation and construct a report of his or her findings that will uphold in a court of law. It is especially important in this type of situation to visit the chiropractor immediately following an accident so that the report is as current and complete as possible. A report completed the day after an accident is much more believable than one constructed two months or even just two weeks following the accident.

Chiropractic care following a car accident ensures that any damage caused is identified and treated. It also helps support any claims of injury following the incident. If you or someone you know has been in a car accident, be sure to locate a qualified chiropractor and seek care as quickly as possible.
